What happens after surgery?
The next day you will need to be seen in the office. You can usually drive to that visit. The eye drops you started before surgery will be continued for several more weeks. One week after surgery you will be examined and at that time given a new prescription for glasses. If you were scheduled to have cataract surgery on your second eye, which typically is about two weeks apart from the first surgery, the new glasses prescription would not be given until one week after the second surgery.
The second sign of deterioration is the formation of cataracts, which is a clouding of the eye's naturally clear lens. The natural lens focuses light rays on the retina to produce a sharp image of what we see. When the lens becomes cloudy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], light rays cannot pass through it easily,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and vision is blurred. This is a visual impairment that often affects us in our 60's, 70's or 80's.
How is a cataract treated,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
Surgery is the only way a cataract can be removed. However, if symptoms of a cataract are not bothering you very much, surgery may not be needed. Sometimes a simple change in you eyeglass prescription may be helpful. No medications,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], dietary supplements or exercises have been shown to prevent or cure cataracts.
As we get older, the natural lens of the eye deteriorates in one of two ways. The first sign of deterioration often begins in our 40's when the natural lens of the eye becomes less flexible and we gradually lose our ability to focus from far to near and back again. Bifocal glasses, reading glasses or bifocal contact lenses are frequently used to correct this condition.

You should feel better in 10–15 minutes after you treat yourself. If your blood glucose is still less than 70 mg/dl or you don’t feel better 10–15 minutes after the treatment, take 1 more carbohydrate serving (15g). Test your blood glucose an hour after the reaction to make sure that your blood glucose has gone above 70 mg/dl and stayed there.
When you have diabetes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it is important to know how to treat low blood sugar. Low blood sugar is also referred to as hypoglycemia.
Hypoglycemia occurs when blood sugars in the body fall below 70 mg/dl. Symptoms include hunger,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], nervousness,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], anxiety,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], weakness,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], shakiness, sweating, lightheadedness, confusion and dizziness. An additional carbohydrate snack may be needed at night or after exercise to keep your blood glucose above 70 mg/dl. Make sure you are including lean protein in your meals because protein helps keep your blood sugar level throughout the day,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
EXAMPLES OF TREATMENTS FOR LOW BLOOD GLUCOSE
If your blood glucose is between 50 - 69 mg/dl, take the amount listed (about 15 g carbohydrate).
If your blood glucose is less than 50 mg/dl, take twice the amount listed.
Orange or apple juice (no sugar added) – ½ cup
Grape or cranberry juice (no sugar added) – ½ cup
Regular soda (non-diet) – ½ cup
Honey or corn syrup – 1 Tablespoon
Glucose tablets – 3 or 4
Sugar packets -3 packets
Life Savers or other hard candy - 3–8 pieces
The 15/15 Rule: Give 15 grams of carbohydrate and wait 15 minutes before checking your blood sugars again. Repeat if blood sugars are still less than 70 mg/dl.

Because carbohydrates raise blood sugar, it is effective to consume a fast-acting carbohydrate that will raise blood sugar most quickly. So…with all the above said, here’s an interesting fact. When you go to google.com/trends and search business ethics something quite unique appears…since 2004 the search volume for “business ethics” has gone down. In fact,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it is fairly level during this economic recession – 2008 – 2010.

My question is why? It would seem with unethical behavior splattered all over the news,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], from the government with folks like Charlie Rangle,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to government spending out of control,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to fraudsters like Bernie Madoff, to claims of influence peddling and insider trading at national banking and hedge fund firms, that we need ethics now more than ever. But, for some reason, searches for business ethics are down…and I’d like some reasonable explanation as to why!
I suspect that most folks would say we (at least in this country) could benefit from a strong dose of ethical actions and choices. We are in the midst of one of the most severe economic recessions. Our political leaders don’t seem to have the will or desire to make the tough choices we need to make in order to provide for long term stability in our country for our future generations. Baby Boomers (I’m one of them) are gratified by self indulgence and as the largest group of people in the nation are seemingly unwilling to change our consumption and expectations (for example the Baby Boom generation could give up 1/2 their Social Security) so that we could pay off the debt that we so willingly incurred. (Ouch I can already hear responses to that one). Our business leadership in so many ways is so focused on the next quarter and earnings per share that we fail to make decisions that would better serve the long term potential of the companies we lead. And crime, well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I’ve been busy in this blog reporting on the many instances where folks (and yes I was one of them) found that illegal gains somehow could justify unethical behavior.
